Virtually no one can live without using a cell phone today. Cell phones are the foremost source for communication and information transmission now-a-days. Latest cell phone providers come with unique features that enable advanced communication. Cell phones come with Touch Screen facilities and more. With the increase in the range of cell phone providers, there is also an increase in cell phone service providers out there.

Most of us tend to stay with a particular service provider because of the quality of service. However, everyday competitive rates are provided by different service providers and a better rate can result in a switch over to a new service provider. However, at time your cell phone can get locked, preventing you from switching over to a new cell phone provider. You would need to get a new cell phone to make use of the new provider’s service.

How does such locking happen? Cell phone service provider inserts a code into the phone, which causes it to get locked. The users do not know that this has been done till the time when they want to switch over to another provider. This prevents them from immediately switching over to a service provider when there is an attractive rate offer.

If your cell phone has been locked by the service provider, the first step to unlocking it is to contact the provider and inform them about the problem. You will get a code that can be used for unlocking. A fee is usually charged for this. There are many websites that have programs for unlocking the cell phone or which provide a pass code. Once again, a fee is charged for this. In case your cell phone gets accidentally locked by you, entering the pin number will get it unlocked. Another option is to press 1, 2, and 3 at the same time.
